Two years ago, I found myself in the middle of running a marathon with an unexpected knee injury.
I was tired, sore, and afraid that I wouldn’t be able to finish. For 13 miles I painfully stumbled forward, step by step, until I crossed the finish line.
The last four miles were a reluctant walk-run. Sadly, more walking than running.
It was especially difficult when I came to realize that not even walking would give me respite from the suffering. Multiple times I had to pause, lay down, and stretch in an attempt to gain relief.
Nothing seemed to ease my pain for very long.
Fast forward almost a year to the day, and I found myself running another race, this time a half marathon. But this event was different. I felt much better. I had learned to slow down, pace myself, and relax.
But more than that, I had, at some point in the previous year, found this Deep Blue Rub from doTERRA.
My wife reminds me that we had it the entire time, I just never realized that it was there.
I’m not too big into essential oils myself, but this Deep Blue stuff is pretty powerful when it comes to the wear and tear associated with running.
I enjoyed the relief it brought so much that I packed it with me in the small hydro backpack that I usually ran with, just in case. I put some on my knee before the race, and it felt fantastic.
The pains that I had experienced during the previous race were gone completely.
So what did I learn from this experience?
I didn’t know that the resource that could relieve my afflication even existed, until I went looking for it.
The same is true for wealth, of all kinds. There are at least four major sources of prosperity, including spirituality, relationships, finances, and health.
The riches you seek in each of these pillars of life is there, you just have to search for it.
There are also two types of resources to obtain that abundance:
- The resources that help you alleviate discomfort.
- The resources that help you build success.
The Deep Blue Rub that I discovered after the pain I experienced during my marathon only came to me after I got curious about my injury.
Let alone the fact that I had to experience the agony in the first place before I could even start on the path to discovering the antidote. Our suffering has great worth, even if only to set us on a path forward to discovering a better life.
There is wealth, happiness, and abundance all around you. The universe is full of it; you just need to go looking.
It takes getting really quiet on the inside, eliminating all distractions so that you can leave room for the universe to answer your request for help.
This principle is also how I’m financially surviving unemployment.
Almost a year ago I was unhappy with how long it was going to take us to save for a house. I got really still, asked for help, found the books, courses, and other resources that helped me get started, and began working hard.
I found dozens of feasible ways to earn the extra money that we needed to help us save for a house faster. That was when I discovered and started with Medium, blogging, affiliate marketing, digital products, coaching services, and more.
I began writing on Medium, quickly growing my earnings to nearly $1,000 a month. Not long after that, and through Medium, I landed my first freelance writing gig. That same gig, combined with Medium, is how I’m supporting my Family through unemployment.
It was just over a year ago that I barely knew that Medium even existed, and now it’s led me to be able to support my Family through unemployment.
I had no idea Medium was here until I began to ask with the intent to act. It seemed like the ideas and resources kept coming into my life, almost as if by coincidence.
But I’ve seen enough miracles in my life to know better than to believe in coincidence.
What are you waiting for?
The better, wealthier life you seek is waiting, you just have to ask.
Figure out what you need help with and what you desire most.
Ask with an open mind.
Work hard according to the best of your knowledge each day.
You will quickly find a multitude of resources to help you overcome suffering and build wealth — spiritually, socially, financially, and physically.
